Active Friday

Friday was a super active day. I started out teaching Kettlebells and was happy to be feeling better and coughing a little less than earlier in the week. I then taught Stretch class and went to teach Core Conditioning. When I got home we took our dog for a hike at a local county park.

Gorgeous views from the tip of the hill at the end of our hike.

Perfect weather to hike, I even wore my new Montreal shirt from my sister since it was Boxing Day!

After we got back, I went for a run and came back to cool down with some yoga. I found the pop sugar app doe my iPad so I used the post run yoga sequence. I was pretty impressed with the descriptions of the poses and guide for how to link them together. Georgia always comes over to hang out while I do yoga, silly girl.

It's great to stay on track with my workouts even during the holidays. How did you do?

45 min cardio & Strength

I am so thankful for my husband. For numerous reasons really, but particularly that he is also so dedicated to his health and fitness. I work so might that some days when I finally get days off on weekends I just want. To. Sit. Down.

I was super active on Friday so I gave myself the day off yesterday. I had intended to go for a run today but the time got away from me and I took a nap after church. We took our dog for a quick 30min hike between watching football games. D announced he was going to grab a workout in before dinner so he left for the gym. It inspired me so I went to our community gym and worked out too.

I injured my shoulder in the late summer so it was nice to do a little back work with fairly light weights this evening. I stretched the cardio to 40 min because the cross fit games were on and that is pretty impressive. I got wrapped up watching so I got some extra calorie burn. :)

6/45 workout

We took another nice walk in the woods today, a 1.6 mile loop close to our house so our pup gets the moderate exercise her arthritis requires. It's was another very nice day, though a bit chilly.

I had a killer Kettlebell class this morning, a "Say good bye to 2014" theme. It was tons of fun (if you're into that sort of thing). We shredded 550 calories and we're off to a great start for the day. My boss at one of the gyms contacted me about a last minute sub for a cardio-strength class. I agreed to teach it and divided the class up into a cardio part and a strength part. I've included the cardio part below because it was so quick, fun to do and easy to set up. It's a great reminder that you don't have to have tons of cardio machines to get a great workout.

So here it is!  If you don't have access to a bosu or step at home, you could substitute another exercise like mountain climbers or stair runs or jumping jacks or jump squats. 376 calories in 30 minutes (I forgot to turn my heart rate monitor on during the warm up so it only calculated the circuit part.)
